So I’m cleaning up a bit and flipping through old work. Ran into this poem I wrote for English my senior year of HS. It may not be the best poem out there, but you can see where I was coming from.
Ode to a Little Brother
When I met you, you were the cutest boy ever.
Two squishy cheeks,
Big warming hugs,
And serenading when speaks.
Everyday, we would play.
Everyday, we would bike.
Everyday, we would skate.
Everyday, we were more alike.
You were there on my birthdays,
You were there to walk me home,
You were there to hold my hand,
You were always there so I was never alone.
The one time I don’t see you,
The one time we don’t meet,
The one time we won’t forget,
Is the time you couldn’t stand on your two feet.
No one knew why you had to be so young,
No one knew how to smile again,
No one knew that things would never be the same
But no one will ever forget you as a friend.
It’s been 2 years now
Still people are crushed by your death.
Forever will you be our little brother,
We cherish every breath.
Though there are changes in tides,
Never have you left our sides.
